Greetings Food Nanny Members!
Here’s a bit of info for you all if anybody is free on these dates. This weekend is the Boneyard Arts Festival. There will be lots of art to see around the Champaign Urbana area and surrounding communities. Go to 40north.org to find out what is going on. We will actually be open this Saturday from 9-3 and have Food Nanny tastings going on. So if you know anybody that is curious about our services, send them our way from 11-2. Also, May 1 is Owner Appreciation Day at Common Grounds. We will also be doing tastings there from 4-7. Murder Mystery Dinner is May 12th on Mothers Day. This is by reservation only and tickets ($25 each) must be purchased by May 9th. The menu is as follows: Tomato Basil Soup, Whole Wheat Dinner Rolls, Caesar Salad, Fresh Steamed Green Beans, Rosemary and Garlic Infused Mashed Potatoes, Crown Breasted Chicken Breast, Herb and Dijon Roasted Pork Loin, Chocolate Mousse Cake, Banana Cream Pie and Amaretto Cheesecake. Doors open at 6 and the eatin starts at 6:30. Please let us know if you need tickets and we can drop them off at delivery.
Now on with the menu….
Meal A
*Minestrone Soup – Made with celery, carrots, onions, peas, cabbage, pasta shells, potato, parsley, sea salt and pepper with a veggie broth.
*Herb and Feta Popovers – These little guys were so cool in the oven. They just puff up so big and then they deflate like a soufflé. Made with milk, eggs, flour, sea salt, pepper, thyme, green onions and feta.
*Blue Moon Farms Mixed Greens
*Banana Cream Pie – I made this yesterday and when I went to taste it, it tasted pretty darn salty! Yes, screwed up the pie with salt instead sugar. Just not my day. So you all have REALLY fresh pie! J Crust is coconut and oats. This will taste WAY much better than the pies yesterday! And let me tell you, Triple S Farms has some monster eggs! If you need some really good eggs, go buy them at the Coop and I mean these things are like dinosaur eggs! Poor chickens!
Meal B – Meat Lovers
* Beef Kebabs with Pineapple Rice and Grilled Zucchini – The beef is the kebab meat from Triple S Farms and it was seasoned with olive oil, garlic, rosemary, parsley, thyme and achiote. We slid in some peppers and onions, took them home and grilled them on our grill. Pineapple Rice is made with pineapple, mango, cilantro, onions, salt and pepper. The zucchini was seasoned with olive oil, salt and pepper. I LOVE zucchini on the grill because if you let it rest before cutting into it, it’s soooo juicy. I can and usually do eat a whole zucchini when we grill these out. Although I probably should have kept that to myself.
Meal B – Veggie Lovers
*Veggie Kebabs with Pineapple Rice and Grilled Zucchini – Your kebabs have mushrooms to replace the meat and we slid onions and peppers on yours also. You are also receiving the pineapple rice and grilled zucchini. This will be a good meal!
We hope you all enjoy your dinners this week. Let us know if you need us to cater anything for graduation or anything else in the future. Have a great week and we will see you all next week.
